Are you one of those record collectors stocking
up your collection only with essential albums? For example:
If you want to have the fundamental BritPop-album, you go for
OASIS' "What's the Story Morning Glory!", or if you're
into stirring Irish Folk, then all you have to have is "If
I should Fall from Grace with God" by THE POGUES? Well,
for people like you ANTICHRISIS' "Cantara Anachoreta"
is THE ultimate Gothic Metal album! Although this genre has
almost passed out now because of all those disposable and insignificant
Gothic Metal-clones who think it'd be enough to combine male
growls (always sounding pretty similiar to a broken water flush)
with female semi-classic vocals (quite close to a hedgehog suffering
from intestinal catarrh) and very slow & boring rhythms
(reminding of an out-dated tractor in desperate need of repair),
"Cantara Anachoreta" (originally released in 1997)
has become something of a milestone, because it has everything
its imitators lack so badly: A dark, breath-taking and melancholy
atmosphere, irresistible ballads as well as furious outbursts
of rage and anger, bewitching melodies, heart-touching lyrics
and - most of all - attitude, commitment and passion! As aforesaid:
If you're looking for the basic Gothic Metal Album, then "Cantara
Anachoreta" is your choice.....
